Eight centuries on the hill
Bubbio was born as a bivium, a crossroads between the Bormida Valley and the Asti hills. The castle has been its sentinel for nearly eight centuries.
The original 13th-century fortress suffered grave and irreparable damage during the Spanish occupation of 1639. Only the ancient tower, on the western side, survived — and it still dominates the village today.
Between 1783 and 1787 the ruins passed to the Galvagno family, who rebuilt the residential wing in neo-medieval style: an elegant manor with vast frescoed halls and a park overlooking the river.
Today those halls welcome our guests: twelve rooms set within the castle's wing, the restaurant and a garden among the hills. The same age-old stone, a new hospitality.
